Barbara holds a BS in Behavioral Science from Bellevue University, an MS in Criminal Justice, and a host of certifications. She is a Nationally Certified Reentry Professional and a Nationally Certified Gang Specialist. Barbara has authored two reentry manuals that are currently under discussion for use in a pilot program in eight North Carolina prisons.
Currently, Barbara is working in partnership with the US Department of Justice and the Craven County Police to create a community-based violence intervention and prevention initiative for Craven County as a solution to crimes. She serves as the Policy and Legislative Chairman for the NC American Legion Auxiliary and has run for the US House in 2022 and Mayor in 2023.
Barbara is a strong supporter of amplifying the voices of the people and speaking truth to power, starting with working together to change the landscape of American politics.
