GREENVILLE, N.C. — In a time of unprecedented political polarization, a new initiative called "Black Out" is emerging as a powerful force dedicated to giving people of color the opportunity to regain their voice and make a real impact in American politics. “Black Out aims to challenge the extreme views on both the left and right and put the people's interests at the forefront, rather than a party with a rigid ideological agenda,” said Barbara Gaskins, former candidate for Mayor of Greenville and North Carolina Forward Party Executive Committee member.

This has led to a situation where everyday citizens are faced with a choice between two extremes or politicians who seem more like "DC yes-men" than representatives of their interests.
Black Out is committed to addressing this issue by encouraging people of color to explore the option of becoming independent voters, free from the constraints of party ideologies.
